The 2021 National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC) in support of the United Way Campaign was a sweeping success for CFB Kingston. Kingston Defence Team members contributed donations both big and small to support the United Way, which assists individuals and families in the greater Kingston area in need of community and social resources, health partners, and any registered Canadian charity.
During a mostly remote donation environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 NDWCC looked a bit different than a normal year, with less in-person events and more virtually driven initiatives. However, through the crisis, “a lot of employees really stepped up to the plate. Those who could were giving more, and that made up for the loss of events for sure; the campaign also raised more than the previous year” says Bhavana Varma, President & CEO of United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.
Not only did CFB Kingston help the United Way raise an astonishing amount in 2021, it also marked special achievements as an organization. In 2021, Kingston earned the Limestone Achievement Award, given to workplaces that raise $100,000 to $249,999 in a given year, as well as the Emerald Leadership Award, given to workplaces with 25 to 39 individuals who donated more than $1200. CFB Kingston was also the best Base or Wing in Ontario and second-best Base or Wing nationally in donation to the 2021 NDWCC Campaign. Additionally, Kingston ranked second highest in Canada for donations per capita in the 2021 campaign.
CFB Kingston’s contributions to the 2021 NDWCC were able to positively impact the lives of many members of our local communities. Thank you to all who donated, and please be sure to consider supporting the 2022 United Way campaign; even a small donation can make a great impact! Stay tuned in the Fall, where CFB Kingston will be kicking off the NDWCC once more. For more information, please visit the NDWCC website at: https://www.unitedwaykfla.ca/
