2022 Day of Caring: Defense Team members helped out at the Oak Street Garden and the Extend-A-Family facility

On June 17th 2022, Kingston Defense team members had the opportunity to volunteer at the annual United Way Day of Caring. The United Way Day of Caring brings together volunteers from local agencies and organizations to provide crucial assistance through repair work, gardening, painting, and cleaning. Day of Caring is a day of altruism paired with team building, community engagement, and fun. After a 2 year hiatus during the pandemic, everyone was thrilled to be back showing their local love. Defense Team members helped out at the Oak Street Garden and the Extend-A-Family facility.

The Oak Street Garden welcomes all locals to grow their own food and learn about food gardening. It is a non-hierarchal organization with the goals to make Oak Street Garden inclusive to all, providing education, recreation, socialization and nutrition to those involved, and improving food security in Kingston.
