70th Annual St. Lawrence Cup

On August 19th-21st, CFB Kingston hosted the 70th St. Lawrence Cup (SLC). The SLC is an annual American and Canadian military border exchange Ryder Cup-styled golf competition that dates back to 1951. The two teams that compete in the SLC are formed by members of both the CFB Kingston and Fort Drum bases. Each mixed-gender team consists of fourteen military or former-military golfers, with at least half of the players being active duty or serving members. In terms of game play, Saturday’s competition consisted of better-ball team matches, while Sunday’s consisted of single matches.

The last SLC was hosted in August 2019 in Fort Drum, NY, after which the annual event was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Given that this was the first SLC in three years, the energy at the competition was lively and exciting!

During the 70th SLC, CFB Kingston was victorious, bringing the record to 35 wins a piece. In addition, members of both teams formed new connections and strengthened old ones between players.

Thank you to PSP for all of your hard work in putting this event together, and thank you to Fort Drum for your wonderful team spirit and kindness that you brought to the course! CFB Kingston looks forward to the next St. Lawrence Cup.
