It is hard to believe that we are in 2022. The last year presented us all with challenges and opportunities. I hope the New Year brings nothing but the best for you and your loved ones and that you had the time required to recharge and refresh because we have a lot to do.
We all have to be ready for whatever this year brings. The last few years have been nowhere near routine, and this year is starting off the same way. I ask you all, despite COVID fatigue, to continue to follow public health measures. My staff and I take the challenges of COVID very seriously and monitor the situation closely. We are in regular contact with public health and the city of Kingston to ensure that our measures and protections are in sync with the province and the city. We have adjusted the posture of the Base in the face of this Omicron wave and will continue to do so in order to enable the safest possible work environment.
Understanding that the latest provincial measures, especially regarding schools, may be causing concerns and require rescheduling or reorganization for some members of the team; I ask that everyone, at all levels, be flexible and supportive. We have to work together to ensure that we get through this wave safely while still providing the vital functions that the Base needs to carry out.
I, as always, continue to be proud and humbled by the work of the members of the defence team and the sacrifices of their families in supporting them.
Happy New Year.
