I have been away from my position as Base Commander for the last few months as I was called to assist at the division level. My time at the division made me even more aware that CFB Kingston is a special base with a great diversity of units. CFB Kingston haunts ranging from traditional regiments and reserve units to centres of doctrine, branch schools and the Canadian Government’s only degree granting institution.
While I was away the base was well represented by the Acting Base Commander Lieutenant-Colonel Pickell who is retiring in the fall. I would like to thank him for his work over the last three years to CFB Kingston. This annual posting season is seeing major personnel changes at base headquarters including the Base Chief; I would like to thank Chief Warrant Officer Cartier for his service to the base and welcome in my new fire team partner Chief Warrant Prendergast. I want to wish all those leaving the Headquarters for both those going to new postings or retiring the best of luck, and wish a warm welcome to those incoming.
As we move into the end of summer I would like to encourage everyone to take time to relax and take time to reconnect with family and loved ones. The pandemic period has been challenging for us all but current inflection and restriction levels are allowing us to have a more normal summer. I hope you get the chance to take advantage of these lower restrictions in a safe and responsible manner.
