May 2-8, 2022 #GetReal about how to help
When times are tough, we need to be there for each other. That’s why this year’s Canadian Mental Health Association #MentalHealthWeek is all about empathy and how to #GetReal about how to help.
Supporting someone who is struggling with mental health can be challenging. However, it does not have to be complicated. Sometimes, the best way to help is to make them feel seen and heard. It’s also important to understand that you don’t need to solve their problems. Simply acknowledging their feelings can go a long way. Focusing on understanding is a solution on its own.
Empathy is an important skill to have when supporting someone. We are not all born to be empathic though. Luckily, it is something you can learn. Learn how you can understand someone’s feelings.
