Copper Trees & Coffee Cup Cozies: Meet the Vendors

Copper Trees & Coffee Cup Cozies: Meeting the Vendors of the CFB Kingston Christmas Craft Sale Community Recreation

One of CFB Kingston’s most popular events, the Christmas Craft Sale, is back for another year! With so many vendors selling their unique works just in time for the holidays, it’s no wonder why this show is so successful. From crocheted coffee cup cozies to copper bonsai trees and plenty in between, there’s something for everyone at the Christmas Craft Sale.

Looking for some handmade knitwear? Courtney Walsh at 1, 2, 3 Craft With Me has you covered! She makes children’s toys and mittens, as well as scarves, hats and mittens for adults. She also sells useful items like freezie holders, coffee cup cozies, and removable cup holder liners for your car.

Courtney, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, began crocheting as a stress-reliever to keep her focused and centred. While she only does this as a hobby, Courtney says that she enjoys the Craft Sale because it allows her to interact with the CFB community and give advice to other crocheters to help with their own projects.

If knits aren’t your thing, however, don’t worry! There are plenty of other vendors to shop from, such as Ross Copper Creations. Combining natural elements of copper, granite and wood, Perry Ross creates mesmerizing sculptures and jewellery that evoke a sense of movement. Perry says that each piece takes between 12-20+ hours to complete, over a 2-3 week period.

As a retired Forces member working as a Technician full-time at Queen’s University, Perry utilizes his evenings and weekends to hone his craft. He says that creating each piece gives him “a deep feeling of inner peace” and his trees reflect his emotional state during the creative process.

If you have kids, bring them with you and help us celebrate National Child Day! We’re making snowflakes to celebrate and share what makes each child special and unique. Each personalized snowflake will be added to our large banner and displayed on National Child Day on November 20.

If you want to meet Courtney, Perry or any of the dozens of other artists at the Christmas Craft Sale, come to Thompson Drill Hall at CFB Kingston on November 17 & 18.
