International Women’s Day was a time to celebrate the progress of women’s social, political, and cultural achievements all over the world. Celebrations included high tea in Melbourne, Australia, a film festival in Limerick, Ireland, Paint Jams that featured female street artists in a variety of countries, McDonalds in Lynwood, California turned its M upside down, and most notable was the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre’s (KMFRC) ‘empowering courage’ fundraising event.
The event was planned in cooperation with Women Mean Business and John Price, sales representative, from Sutton Group Masters Realty. The day started at the beautiful Vimy Officer’s mess with a Meet and Mingle Café. Business owners and guests networked, while the kitchen staff prepared an amazing three course lunch.
The RMC piper played the bagpipes as people settled into their seats to enjoy the fine culinary creations and prepare for a world class fashion show. As the tables were cleared, a host of local talent modelled KVA Collections new Spring line up.
The signature KMFRC fundraising event was made possible by the main sponsor, John and Heather Price as well as the table sponsors: BMW Kingston, CaraCo Development Corporation, Chong & O’Neill, End of the Roll, Greek Town Takeout, Greene Homes, Iron Mountain, Jessup Food & Heritage, Jim Thompson Chrysler, John & Heather Price, Kingston KIA, Marlin Travel, Mary Brown’s Chicken & Taters, Mary Murphy, McDougall Insurance, Rose & Crown Restaurant, Steve Burke Home Inspection, Tarnowecky Law, and Tamarack Homes.
