This month, CFB Kingston is highlighting Lt Andres Guerrero from Ottawa, Ont. Lt Guerrero is a Logistics Officer, and, for the past year, has been the Base Supply Officer (B Sup O) at the Logistics Support Squadron.
In his role as B Sup O, Lt Guerrero manages supply procurement for several units across the base. In particular, he is responsible for the procurement, storage, movement, and disposal of supplies to and from clothing stores, tailor shops, warehouses, RMC and other areas of the base.
Lt |Guerrero is also responsible to ensure that members have access to Central Material Traffic Terminal (CMTT). CMTT staff plan, execute, and manage the movement of equipment and personnel locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally via land and air. This support enables the CAF in posting members, completing large-scale exercises, and conducting international operations.
Lt Guerrero manages upwards of 55 military and civilian personnel. With a large group of mixed subordinates, Lt Guerrero prioritizes communication and organization, often touching base with the leaders within his platoon to ensure the efficiency and well-being of his team. In this role, he works closely with human resources specialists and has learned key skills in how to adjust his leadership to fit a diverse group.
Lt Guerrero has noted that, during the pandemic, it has sometimes been challenging to keep spirits high in the workplace. Something that he takes pride in is taking the time to reward people for their good work, and reminding them of their importance as members of the team. The altruism that comes in recognizing his subordinates for their efforts pays off for Lt Guerrero, leaving him feeling fulfilled in his job.
Lt Guerrero works tirelessly to maintain proper supply across the base. Though he is rarely seen by the majority of garrison members, his work has an impact on every member of the Defense Team.
Thank you, Lt Guerrero, for all that you do behind the scenes for CFB Kingston.
