Introducing Seasons of Absence: A New Service for Military Families

The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC) is excited to launch a new support, Seasons of Absence, designed to support military families during the different stages of absence—pre-deployment, deployment, and reintegration. This quarterly event series will offer opportunities for military families to connect, share experiences, and build support networks in a fun, welcoming environment. 

What is Seasons of Absence? 

Seasons of Absence is a quarterly event that provides military families with the chance to meet, connect, and engage with one another during various stages of absence. Each event will align with one of the four seasons and feature a unique activity, providing something fresh and exciting each season. The events, which will occur on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM, are designed to foster community, reduce isolation, and offer support during times of work-related absence or reintegration. 

Debut Event: February 22, 2025 – Board Games & Connection 

The first event in the Seasons of Absence series will take place on February 22, 2025, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Improbable Escapes Wonderland (500 Gardiners Rd, Kingston). Military families the chance to unwind and connect by playing a variety of board games from the café’s extensive library. 

Whether you’re in the preparation phase, experiencing ongoing absence, or navigating reintegration, this event is for you. The goal is to build connections with others who are in similar stages of military life, all while enjoying a fun, low-pressure activity.
