The new year at the Military Communications and Electronics Museum (MCEM) starts with a wonderful gathering of friends! The MCEM is hosting Coffee with Veterans on Tuesday January 17 at 1000. Be prepared to eat, drink and converse!

The NORAD North Bay Underground Complex, nicknamed “The Hole”, was a bunker built in the 1960s to withstand a Soviet nuclear attack. During the Cold War, Canada and the United States built a series of supercomputers — called SAGE — meant to allow the two countries to coordinate their military response in case of attack. To keep them safe they were placed deep underground.
Why was North Bay chosen? It had an existing airbase serviced by rail, telecommunications, and highway networks. The granite of the Canadian shield was virtually impregnable from a nuclear attack and there was fresh water close at hand to keep “The Hole” supplied with water.
Come an explore the role of North Bay’s Underground Fortress at the MCEM. On now until September 2023!

We stock a variety of miniature medals that are available for purchase, and if we don’t have what you are looking for, we will do our best to source it. We also offer Full Size Replica Medals.
