More than one study has shown that visiting museums gives visitors a sense of wellbeing. Part of that sense of wellbeing is tied to the collection itself. Museums provide the right conditions for meaningful experiences with objects. For some, they trigger past recollections and experiences, for others, they give insights into a very different lifestyle and point of view. Museums promote empathy and understanding of other cultures, including art, societal rules, food, and other rituals. This connection with other people is vital to our overall mental health and sense of ourselves.
In the two years since the pandemic has started museums have done their best to move their collections online to help feed that sense of connection that binds us together. The Military Communications and Electronics Museum has turned to Facebook and our website to share ongoing museum news, new online exhibits and important events as the Museum continues to serve the needs of the community.
In 2022, the Military Communications and Electronics Museum will be rolling out a new website to allow us to be more responsive to our community. We look forward to sharing more stories and collections in the future. Happy New Year!
