Communities globally take part in the annual celebration during the third week of October, in order to honour, promote and increase awareness of conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
International Conflict Resolution Day emphasizes the importance of education and participation in peacefully resolving conflict, and CCMS has dedicated dispute resolution Agents and Conflict Management Practitioners to support this effort.
The 16 CCMS centres across Canada provide conflict resolution training on the topics of Resolving Conflict Effectively, Conflict Management for Leaders and Civility at Work. Each of these courses promotes the use of effective communication skills and tools to successfully address conflict in the workplace.
CCMS also provides innovative conflict resolution services to both military and civilian employees. These interest-based services include Conflict Coaching, Facilitation, Mediation and Group Processes, all of which emphasize the importance of maintaining healthy workplace relationships.
COVID-19 has created and increased conflict across the globe and now more than ever, we need a concerted effort to do our part in recognizing and engaging in the peaceful resolution of disputes. There is something powerful about the organizational synergy in celebrating this day.
We encourage you to celebrate with us by taking part in conflict resolution education, practicing effective communication skills, engaging in our services, and joining our month-long International Conflict Resolution Day Scavenger Hunt (hint: some of the answers are in this article and yes, there are prizes to be won)!
