On September 24th, the KMFRC in connection with the Kingston Priory of the Order of St, George, is proud to host the 6th Annual Canadian Walk for Veterans, in our community and wants to invite the Canadian Armed Forces community, partners, businesses and Kingstonians to join them. This walk aims to raise awareness, recognize and honour those who are still with us, including serving members and first responders, in addition to our Veterans.

Remembrance Day brings us together to remember those who have fallen for our country. The organizers and hosts of the Kingston edition of the walk would like to bring the same beautiful energy, awareness and tribute to those Veterans that still walk amongst us. And, just as importantly, to the families who accompany, and sometimes carry, their loved ones through it all. The 2023 Canadian Walk for Veterans will pay tribute to these “Heroes of the Homefront”.

You can walk as a family, in business teams or individually. All ages are welcome. This year, all proceeds go back to support KMFRC initiatives.

Participants can choose between two different distances, a 2.3km walk that brings you from the KMFRC to Fort Henry Hill and a 5km walk that includes walking up and down Fort Henry Hill and includes walking through renowned Memorial Arch at the Royal Military College of Canada. The event starts at 1pm and runs until 4pm. On site registration and check-in will begin at 12pm.

In addition to the walk, people can enjoy face painting for the kids, live music brought to us by Music Healing Veterans Canada, the Footsteps of Canadian Heroes Memorial Tour Trailer, Barrack the Bear from the Kingston Frontenacs, Kona Ice Truck, a free BBQ and more! The event will be kicked off with opening remarks by our Base Commander, Base Chief, and Deputy Mayor of Kingston followed by a piper and the Legion Color party. A special thank you to our event sponsor, Taylor AutoMall right here in Kingston!

Everyone who registers for the Canadian Walk for Veterans will receive a 2023 Challenge Coin supplied by Canadian Veteran-owned Sharkz Coins based in Esquimalt BC. This year’s image depicts the iconic picture from the Second World War “Wait for Me, Daddy” taken by Claude P. Dettloff on October 1, 1940, of the British Columbia Regiment marching down Eighth Street at the Columbia Street intersection, New Westminster BC. On the back of the coin is the inscription “Heroes of the Homefront.”

To support the event, the KMFRC is also looking for volunteers in the community. Volunteers are needed to assist with event set up and takedown, participant registration, route check points volunteer, water station volunteer and directing traffic. If you are interested to volunteer at this event, please contact

April Andrews, our Volunteer and Event Specialist at 613.541.5010 x2250 or email April at volunteer@kmfrc.com.

We look forward to seeing you at the 6th Annual Canadian Walk for Veterans!
