The KMFRC staff is known for community spirit above and beyond their regular support of Military families. This year, for their United Way campaign, they took things to the next level.
The campaign has two important segments. The first segment is the pledges. The bulk of the donations come from this part of the campaign and this year, the KMFRC proudly participated in the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign Combo.
The second part of the campaign was activities. The KMFRC United Way Committee put together a weekly event to help increase the donation pool. Events included a Toonie Tea Tasting Tuesday, a Guided Paint Night, and a Popcorn Guessing Contest.
Both parts of the campaign are an effort to raise $3,000. But there’s more. There is also a stretch goal. If the KMFRC can raise $3,500 Karen will shave the back of her head up to her pony tail, Jo-Anne will get a spider shaved into her hair, Laurie will colour her hair a wild colour chosen by the staff and Terry will shave his head.
At the time of writing this article, the KMFRC is at 70% of their goal.
