Father’s Day is coming up on June 16th! Whether Dad is near or far, there are many creative and thoughtful ways your family can show Dad how much he is loved and appreciated. Family separation due to deployments and absences can be stressful, especially when their time away falls over special holidays. Where operationally possible, send Dad a care package with gifts from the children – drawings, poems, or schoolwork their proud of. Don’t forget his favourite snacks! Take advantage of apps and social media to connect. Send a text message, photo, video, or have a video call. Any form of communication shows Dad that you’re thinking of him. At the KMFRC, we offer deployment support for the entire family through check-ins, bi-weekly virtual deployment coffee, as well as our monthly Absence Support & Connections group, which offers support for both spouses and children. In June, we will be on-site at the KMFRC talking about reintegration for our monthly session of Absence Support & Connections. We hope to see you there!
