In honour of the Dietitians of Canada Nutrition Month Campaign, the CFB Kingston Health
Promotion Team was committed to creating awareness regarding the benefits of healthy eating.
This year, the Dietitians of Canada’s Nutrition Month theme was titled, Unlock the Potential of
Food, which encouraged Canadians to recognize the impact food has to fuel, discover, prevent,
heal and bring us together.
Health Promotion was able to promote the campaign through guidance and education on making
healthier food choices across the Garrison but not without the help of several partners on Base
and within the Kingston Community, including; Food Services staff at the RMC Cadet Dining
Hall, Sgt McCartney, Julie Bates, local Registered Dietitian, and CANEX.
RMC CDH staff created a stunning display of healthy food symbolizing Canada’s Food Guide
during the campaign launch while OCdts were tested on their nutrition knowledge with Health
Promotion staff. Registered Dietitian, Julie Bates offered some nutrition expertise to the OCdts
while celebrating Dietitians Day with Health Promotion at the RMC Cadet Dining Hall. Both the
CFB Kingston and RMC CANEX locations assisted with promoting nutritious snack choices
from the Benefit Healthier Choice program. Congratulations to the winners of the CANEX gift
cards, Alana Anderson and OCdt Jacob Kroel!
Health Promotion was also able to spread the message of healthy eating throughout the Garrison
by delivering fresh fruits and veggies to members participating in Health Promotion courses and
workshops, during unit briefings and by popping up to units during the work day.
Thank you to all for your participation and support of Nutrition Month 2018.
Cheers to healthy eating!
