Happy Canada Day!
Most units are cautiously resuming their necessary activities, adhering to Public Health Measures after completing workplace risk assessments to ensure they are aligned with Occupational Health and Safety direction. We remain aligned with Provincial and Regional restrictions and guidelines.
As an individual, you have an important role to play in helping prevent a COVID-19 outbreak at CFB Kingston:
- Do not report for duty if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
- Adhere to the full spectrum of Public Health Measures.
- If you are unable to maintain 2 metre physical distancing while conducting your work, wear a non-medical mask.
Over the course of the past four months, the Base was tremendously well supported by our own front line workers – medical staff at the Clinic, Military Police, Real Property Operations, cooks, cleaners, emergency daycare providers… The list goes on. I know you join me in thanking all of them for their tremendous dedication.
I would also like to highlight that, since March, personnel from across CFB Kingston contributed to Operation GLOBE and Operation LASER in support of Canadian citizens and Requests For Assistance from the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. We are all proud of their efforts.
On 10 July I relinquish command to Colonel Stéphane Masson. Colonel Masson arrives enthusiastic and well prepared to lead the Base during Business Resumption.
It has been an absolute honour to serve the Kingston Defence Team over the last two years. I depart with many fond memories of the Defence Team and community.
Stay well and enjoy a wonderful and safe summer.
