Message from the Base Commander

Col Gallinger

Spring is in full swing now.  The flowers are blooming and grass is growing.  May brings us the welcome opportunity to exchange our snow shovels for lawn mowers and our parkas for lighter clothing.

It’s a special time for families, and I’d like to wish all of the mothers in our lives a very happy Mother’s Day.  On that note, if you’re looking for a last minute gift idea for Mom, CFB Kingston’s Spring Craft Sale on May 11 to 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Thompson Drill Hall, might have just the thing.  [I may need to pick something up there myself.]

As we say a hearty goodbye to the snow, we are once again presented with what was hidden underneath.  Please do your part to help us keep our Base prim and proper.  Assistance from all units is required to complete spring cleanup by 15 May.

May marks a very important event for the Royal Military College.  We join in wishing each member of the RMC Class of 2019 a long and fruitful career in the Canadian Armed Forces.

On a final note, Base Chief Warrant Officer Jeff Aman recently deployed on Operation IMPACT.  CWO Aman had tremendous impact on the wellbeing of the soldiers, employees and families here in Kingston over the last three years.  We wish him a rewarding and safe deployment.  CWO Martin Cartier will be on the ground in August.  Until then, MWO Doug Elliott will be Acting BCWO.
