Rachel Askett   Health Promotion Specialist

I moved to Kingston just over three years ago and I love this city for its waterfront access and the stunning landscape of places like Frontenac Park. I’m currently on a mission to camp at least one night every month of the year and have found some very cool campsites along the way!

Being outdoors helps me connect to myself however, most of my family and friends live quite far away and I miss them a lot. I’ve done my best to use technology and communication skills to keep those connections strong. Join me for Inter-Comm this spring and learn about what you can do to keep personal connections healthy and strong with loved ones near and far.

Jeremy Bauman-Fortin.  Health Promotion Specialist

Living life to the fullest is what I strive for every day. I do this by making healthy food choices, exercising, spending time with loved ones, regular self-care, various stress management strategies and trying my best to keep a healthy work-life balance. Doing these allow me to have the energy to do all the things that I enjoy and hopefully for a very long time.

Is there something more refreshing than taking a deep breath of fresh spring air? That crisp feeling of cool air rushing through your lungs and providing some instant stress relief!

Nicotine use can seem to provide some stress relief, but there are much more effective ways to manage our feelings and emotions. The CAF Butt Out program can help you find strategies to cope with stress that work specifically for you and also appreciate the full benefits of that deep breath of fresh air! Upcoming Core Programs & Registration (cafconnection.ca)

I am a PSP Kingston “lifer” having joined the team in 2004 as a Fitness Instructor and moved upstairs over the weight room to Health Promotion in 2007. Although my first passion was Physical Fitness, after a spinal injury and surgery I quickly noted that Mental Fitness was just as important for recovery and started on my journey towards strength training my body AND my brain.

Curious as to how you can use mental fitness to improve your performance?

I love to eat! There are not many foods I won’t try. My educational background in nutrition has allowed me to appreciate how food is so much more than fuel for my body. Food is pleasure, a lifestyle, a mood, a craving, time with friends and family and so much more!

Reflecting on your lifestyle and behaviours around food and nutrition can help you find ways to tweak some habits in order to achieve your own personal nutrition goals!

Join the Mission Nutrition Program and explore the world of food and nutrition by debunking some common nutrition myths and learn new skills to spice up your eating patterns and habits! Upcoming Core Programs & Registration (cafconnection.ca)
