I am honoured to be appointed the Acting Base Commander of CFB Kingston following the promotion and deployment of Brigadier General (BGen) Jayne, and I plan to continue his excellent work. He was dedicated to ensuring that CFB Kingston was a safe and healthy workplace, and that the Base team had the tools required in accomplishing its important mission to support our lodger Units. I have started to meet the members of the Base team, and because of them, I already feel like I am at home. Their good spirit and can do attitude simply makes me want to be part of that great team!
Kingston also feels like home as I have family ties to this beautiful city, but also as I am returning; I spent 2 years as the Director of Cadets at the Royal Military College of Canada a few years ago. From this experience I have definitely developed an appreciation for the complexity and unique nature of CFB Kingston. My appreciation has only grown more in the past few weeks as I have been immersed in my new responsibilities. The one thing that comes on top is clearly that extraordinary work is being done on this base every day, and that it can only be done by a just as extraordinary team.
I am also tremendously proud of the relationship that CFB Kingston has built with the surrounding community. I think that this relationship makes Kingston one of the best postings in the Canadian Armed Forces. As we head into the Annual Posting Season, I would like to welcome those who are new to the area; I am sure Kingston will be a great posting for you and your family. For those leaving us, thank you for your contribution to this team and community, and I am sure that you are leaving with positive memories of your time here.
Once again, I would like to express how honoured I am to serve with the Base team. I am nothing but impressed by the work and dedication of the men and women of CFB Kingston and the resilience and commitment of their families. I am looking forward to contribute to the efforts of the Base team and to meet each of you. HONOS HABET ONUS
