Canadian Tulip Festival Veteran Tour 2024

April showers bring May flowers, and we plan to enjoy them!

On May 14th, the MVP+ and Veteran Family Program are hopping on a bus and heading to Ottawa for the Canadian Tulip Festival, with pitstops at the Canadian Parliament and the Byward Market, and an opportunity to explore local cuisine before touring the stunning Tulip Festival grounds. We’d love you to join us!

We are excited to offer this wonderful opportunity for Veterans to connect, to walk and enjoy the fresh air, and to quite literally stop and smell the roses, oops, tulips!

This tour is FREE to clients registered with either the MVP+ or VFP programs. Though, if you are not registered, please reach out, as we may still have spaces available.

We’ll leave at 8:00am and return for 6:30pm.

You are encouraged to bring snacks and water. There will be time to explore on your own, and we can eat lunch as a group, or you are free to wander and explore Ottawa’s downtown restaurants. If you prefer, you are more than welcome to bring your own lunch, as any purchases, including lunch, are at your own expense.

Oh, and don’t forget those walking shoes!

Meeting point for the bus trip will be at 8:45am at the base gym (11 Duty Drive)

If you would like to meet more regularly with other veterans and their families, join our new, monthly Veteran Coffee Connections hosted at Legion 560. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 30th at 10am. More information can be found online at https://www.facebook.com/events/1126798435173029.

The Veteran Family Program supports medically released veterans and their families, as well as medically releasing members and family. Whether it be through the transition out of the CAF, navigating the impacts of adapting to civilian life, or addressing any number of aspects of life after service, we are here to support you. Support extends to social connections, employment, housing, health, and so much more!

The MVP+ Program is for former CAF Members and promotes a sense of community by fostering opportunities that enhance quality of life and overall well-being. Through a membership to Base Gym and other events, it’s an information and connection service, an opportunity to meet new

people and reacquaint with old friends, and a rewarding way to get involved in the community and share passions.
