The annual Canadian Walk for Veterans is hosted by One Veteran Society and invites Canadians to walk shoulder to shoulder in recognition of our military, Veterans, and first responders. The primary goal of the Canadian Walk for Veterans is to provide an opportunity for Canadians to learn about the challenges of coping with life after service. Their secondary goal is their fundraising efforts through modest registration fees, donations, and sponsorships.
The Canadian Walk for Veterans is working in partnership with The Order of St. George Grand Priory of Canada and the Americas and True Patriot Love to raise awareness of the plight of translators, interpreters, cultural advisors, and other locally employed people who were essential to Canada’s missions in conflicts throughout the world such as the Balkans, Somalia, Rwanda and Afghanistan.
As a preferred partner and qualified donee of the Kingston Priory Order of St George, we are grateful for their instrumental role in bringing this incredible initiative to the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC)! As a result of this valuable connection, the KMFRC will be hosting the 2022 Canadian Walk for Veterans in collaboration with CFB Kingston’s MVP+ Military Veteran Program.
Join us on September 25th, virtually or in-person, by registering for this nationally recognized event at www.canadianwalkforveterans.com/Kingston. If you are participating virtually, we invite you to share your experience with us by submitting a photo to the Canadian Walk for Veterans Facebook page (@canwalk4vets) or by email to canadianwalk4veterans@gmail.com. If you sign up and are unable to participate you will still receive a 2022 Challenge Coin manufactured right here in Canada by Veteran-owned Dracks Military Plaques. This year’s image depicts a Canadian soldier with his locally employed interpreter and on the back of the coin is the military creed – “Leave No One Behind”.
