This week, CFB Kingston is highlighting Rob Murray from Hamilton, ON. Rob is a veteran who served 24 years in the CAF as a Signal Operator. For the past six years, he has worked as a Support Technician in Infrastructure Operations at the Service Management Centre (SMC) at CFB Kingston. Rob is part of a small team of desktop support technicians who provide on-site support to Kingston Defense Team members for DWAN and other technologies across a wide variety of devices. For those who require hands-on tech support, Rob is likely one of the individuals who will show up to assist.
Working in a unit that is comprised of primarily former and serving military members, Rob finds that there is a sense of commonality between the two groups. The unit is especially tight-knit and fair due to its small size and inclusivity for all employees. Rob’s days are made brighter by his support dog Ginger, who accompanies him at work regularly. In fact, Ginger is one of three support dogs at the base SMC unit, which makes Rob’s workplace unique amongst the many other units at CFB Kingston. The support dogs create a welcoming work environment that not only comfort their owners, but also provide a level of support and peace to the unit as a whole.
Thank you for all that you do for CFB Kingston, Rob. The work that our Support Technicians do keeps CFB Kingston operating, making them deeply valued members of the Defense Team.
If you are a Defense Team member who is interested in having a support or service animal with you at CFB Kingston, please refer to the Base Standing Orders for the requirements and application process.
