As we transition into cooler weather and our clocks fall back by an hour, we are also approaching flu season. Flu and COVID-19 booster shot clinics are being offered by the MIR, and we encourage you to update your vaccines to protect yourself from seasonal sicknesses and the spread of COVID-19. To view upcoming appointments and register, please visit http://10.97.166.62/apps/opsoft/apps/vax/ or email heather.parsons4@forces.gc.ca.
On 22 October, PSP hosted a successful and sold out Volksmarch. The attendees enjoyed a beautiful walk through the training area and enjoyed refreshments and good company after their walks. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Volksmarch a triumph!
November is an important month for CAF members and Canadians alike, as we are given the opportunity to remember those who have served and even lost their lives to protect our country. 5-11 November marks Veterans’ Week, which also highlights the importance of honouring those who have served Canada during war, conflict, and peace. During Veterans’ Week, we also recognize Indigenous Veterans Day on 8 November, which acknowledges the longstanding contributions of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis people of Canada.
Many units across base are participating in local and base Remembrance Day ceremonies, and we will be attending the local ceremony in Downtown Kingston. If you have yet to plan your attendance at a Remembrance Day ceremony, be sure to monitor the CFB Kingston Facebook page and DWAN for event updates.
Later in November, we can look forward to the CFB Kingston craft sale, hosted by PSP, which will be taking place from 1000-1500hrs on 19-20 November in the Thompson Drill Hall. For more information, please visit https://cfmws.ca/kingston/events-activities/events/fall-craft-sale
The CFB Kingston Command Team continues to be impressed with the efforts of the Defense Team, and appreciates the hard work happening daily around the base. Soon we will be heading home for holiday block leave, but until then, keep up the grind!
