As we truly get into Spring, we extend a heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the recent base clean-up. This month, we celebrate the richness of diversity with Asian Heritage Month and Canadian Jewish Heritage Month. May 17th marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia and we reaffirm that exclusion has no place within our organization.
Join us on May 3, 2024, in solidarity with the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people by wearing a red shirt instead of the usual environmental ones with combat dress. For those purchasing a red shirt, you are encouraged to purchase from vendors donating proceeds to organizations supporting the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
On May 12th, we honour the dedication of mothers within our military families. Their sacrifices and unwavering commitment are the cornerstone of our community. If you’re seeking a last-minute Mother’s Day gift, look no further than the Spring Craft Sale on May 4th from 10 am to 3 pm at Thompson Drill Hall. It’s a chance to find something special for Mom while supporting our local artisans.
We draw your attention to the recent changes to the Canadian Forces Housing Differential. Kingston has seen a modest increase in the rate. A link is provided below, but please go through your Orderly Room to apply or confirm that you are at the correct level.
We congratulate the Royal Military College Graduating Class of 2024 and wish them good luck as they embark the next stage of their careers. We also say farewell to all members of the Garrison, whether they were here for a posting or a course, who are posted this summer. As posting season approaches, let’s extend a warm welcome to our new members and support them as they integrate into our community.
