Is one of your new years resolutions to read more? Well, the Kingston MFRC is excited to announce the restart of our new English reading group The Novel Bunch formerly known as English Book Club. The group meets in room 215 at the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre (11 Duty Drive), from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on the last Sunday of every month, except for December and will continue in January 2023.
This group will provide peer support for everyone in the CAF community with an admiration for reading. It is an inclusive group that welcomes all CAF community members 18 years of age or older. There will be discussions within the group on books that have been read, what is currently being read, and what genres they would like to include in future book selections. The Novel Bunch gathered for the first time in October to discuss a variety of reading materials. The first book of choice, for November, was The Alice Network, by Kate Quinn and a vivid discussion was held at the monthly November meeting.
Meaningful connections within our military community with those that understand the unique challenges CAF families face are fostered in a fantastic way; whether you are new to the Kingston community or a have been here awhile, your are looking for an opportunity for community engagement during your loved one’s deployment, or a way to maintain a connection to your military community when transitioning from the CAF. Come and join The Novel Bunch, as we explore different genres and jump into literary adventures!
Please follow the Kingston MFRC Facebook page to see what the next book of choice will be. If you have any inquiries or would like to share any book-related topics, please visit the Novel Bunch Event Page on the KMFRC Facebook page, and place your comments in the “Discussion” tab. Don’t hesitate to contact the Kingston MFRC at (613) 541-5010, ext. 5195 with any inquiries. We hope to see you at our next meeting in January!
